10 Futuristic Materials

10 Futuristic Materials

by Lifeboat Foundation Scientific Advisory Board member Michael Anissimov.

1. Aerogel

Aerogel protecting crayons from a blowtorch.

This tiny block of transparent aerogel is supporting a brick weighing 2.5 kg. The aerogel's density is 0.1 g/cm3.

Aerogel holds 15 entries in the Guinness Book of Records, more than any other material. Sometimes called "frozen smoke", aerogel is made by the supercritical drying of liquid gels of alumina, chromia, tin oxide, or carbon. It's 99.8% empty space, which makes it look semi-transparent. Aerogel is a fantastic insulator — if you had a shield of aerogel, you could easily defend yourself from a flamethrower. It stops cold, it stops heat. You could build a warm dome on the Moon. Aerogels have unbelievable surface area in their internal fractal structures — cubes of aerogel just an inch on a side may have an internal surface area equivalent to a football field. Despite its low density, aerogel has been looked into as a component of military armor because of its insulating properties.

2. Carbon nanotubes

Carbon nanotubes are long chains of carbon held together by the strongest bond in all chemistry, the sacred sp2 bond, even stronger than the sp3 bonds that hold together diamond. Carbon nanotubes have numerous remarkable physical properties, including ballistic electron transport (making them ideal for electronics) and so much tensile strength that they are the only substance that could be used to build a space elevator. The specific strength of carbon nanotubes is 48,000 kN·m/kg, the best of known materials, compared to high-carbon steel's 154 kN·/kg. That's 300 times stronger than steel. You could build towers hundreds of kilometers high with it.

3. Metamaterials

"Metamaterial" refers to any material that gains its properties from structure rather than composition. Metamaterials have been used to create microwave invisibility cloaks, 2D invisibility cloaks, and materials with other unusual optical properties. Mother-of-pearl gets its rainbow color from metamaterials of biological origin. Some metamaterials have a negative refractive index, an optical property that may be used to create "Superlenses" which resolve features smaller than the wavelength of light used to image them! This technology is called subwavelength imaging. Metamaterials would used in phased array optics, a technology that could render perfect holograms on a 2D display. These holograms would be so perfect that you could be standing 6 inches from the screen, looking into the "distance" with binoculars, and not even notice it's a hologram.

4. Bulk diamond

We're starting to lay down thick layers of diamond in CVD machines, hinting towards a future of bulk diamond machinery. Diamond is an ideal construction material — it's immensely strong, light, made out of the widely available element carbon, nearly complete thermal conductivity, and has among the highest melting and boiling points of all materials. By introducing trace impurities, you can make a diamond practically any color you want. Imagine a jet, with hundreds of thousands of moving parts made of fine-tuned diamond machinery. Such a craft would be more powerful than today's best fighter planes in the way an F-22 is better than the Red Baron's Fokker Dr.1.

5. Bulk fullerenes

Diamonds may be strong, but aggregated diamond nanorods (what I call amorphous fullerene) are stronger. Amorphous fullerene has a isothermal bulk modulus of 491 gigapascals (GPa), compared to diamond's 442 GPa. As we see in the image, the nanoscale structure of the fullerene gives it a beautiful iridescent appearance. Fullerenes can be made substantially stronger than diamond, but for greater energy cost. After a "Diamond Age" we may eventually transition to a "Fullerene Age" as our technology gets even more sophisticated.

6. Amorphous metal

Amorphous metals, also called metallic glasses, consist of metal with a disordered atomic structure. They can be twice as strong as steel. Because of their disordered structure, they can disperse impact energy more effectively than a metal crystal, which has points of weakness. Amorphous metals are made by quickly cooling molten metal before it has a chance to align itself in a crystal pattern. Amorphous metals may the military's next generation of armor, before they adopt diamondoid armor in mid-century. On the green side of things, amorphous metals have electronic properties that improve the efficiency of power grids by as much as 40%, saving us thousands of tons of fossil fuel emissions.

7. Superalloys

A superalloy is a generic term for a metal that can operate at very high temperatures, up to about 2000 °F (1100 °C). They are popular for use in the superhot turbine areas of jet engines. They are used for more advanced oxygen-breathing designs, such as the ramjet and scramjet. When we're flying through the sky in hypersonic craft, we'll have superalloys to thank for it.

8. Metal foam

Metal foam is what you get when you add a foaming agent, powdered titanium hydride, to molten aluminum, then let it cool. The result is a very strong substance that is relatively light, with 75-95% empty space. Because of its favorable strength-to-weight ratio, metal foams have been proposed as a construction material for space colonies. Some metal forms are so light that they float on water, which would make them excellent for building floating cities, like those analyzed by Marshall T. Savage in one of my favorite books, The Millennial Project.

9. Transparent alumina

Transparent alumina is three times stronger than steel and transparent. The number of applications for this are huge. Imagine an entire skyscraper or arcology made largely of transparent steel. The skylines of the future could look more like a series of floating black dots (opaque private rooms) rather than the monoliths of today. A huge space station made of transparent alumina could cruise in low Earth orbit without being a creepy black dot when it passes overhead. And hey... transparent swords!

10. E-textiles

If you meet up and talk to me in 2020, I'll likely be covered in electronic textiles. Why carry some electronic gadget you can easily lose when we can just wear our computers? We'll develop clothing that can constantly project the video of our choosing (unless it turns out being so annoying that we ban it). Imagine wearing a robe covered in a display that actually projects the night sky in realtime. Imagine talking to people over the "phone" just by making a hand gesture and activating electronics in your lapel, then merely thinking about what you want to say (thought-to-speech interfaces). The possibilities of e-textiles are limitless.

Evil Guide Plan

Congratulations on being the creator of a new Evil Plan (tm)!

Your objective is simple: world domination.
Your motive is a little bit more complex: hatred for all mankind

Stage One

To begin your plan, you must first assassinate a Pope. This will cause the world to sign up for life insurance policies, frightened by your arrival. Who is this Nightmare beyond Comprehension? Where did they come from? And why do they look so good in Classic Black?

Stage Two

Next, you must vaporize the White House. This will all be done from a Hell, a mysterious place of unrivaled dark glory. Upon seeing this, the world will spontaneously combust, as countless hordes of ninjas hasten to do your every bidding.

Stage Three

Finally, you must let loose your opening of the seven seals, bringing about Horror's beyond Man's Comprehension. Your name shall become synonymous with horror, and no man will ever again dare cross you. Everyone will bow before your Mind-Boggling Insanity, and the world will have no choice but to give you control of the planet.

Mexico’s Island of the Dolls Is Beyond Creepy
Known as “La Isla de la Munecas”, by the Spanish, The Island of the Dolls is perhaps the creepiest tourist attraction in Mexico. Located within an extensive network of canals, south of Mexico City, the island is a place of mystery and superstition.
Almost every tree growing on the island is decorated with old, mutilated dolls that give anyone the feeling that they’re constantly being watched. The story behind the Island of the Dolls began when a hermit by the name of Don Julian Santana moved here. Although he was married he chose to live the last 50 years of his life alone.
Don Julian used to say he was haunted by the ghost of the little girl who had drowned in one of the canals around the island. Some say he used to fish the dolls from the water because he though they were real children, but the truth is he was collecting and placing them around his home as a shrine for the spirit that tormented him. At one point he even traded home grown fruit and vegetables for old dolls.
Ironically, in 2001 Don Julian Santana was found dead by his nephew, in the same canal that he said the little girl drowned in. Now his Island of the Dolls is one of the world’s weirdest tourist attractions. Some tourists who visited this place claim the dolls whisper and you must offer them a gift upon setting foot on the island, to appease their spirits.

Top 10 Cannabis Studies the Government Wished it Had Never Funded

Top 10 Cannabis Studies the Government Wished it Had Never Funded

A massive study of California HMO members funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) found marijuana use caused no significant increase in mortality. Tobacco use was associated with increased risk of death. Sidney, S et al. Marijuana Use and Mortality. American Journal of Public Health. Vol. 87 No. 4, April 1997. p. 585-590. Sept. 2002.
Veterans Affairs scientists looked at whether heavy marijuana use as a young adult caused long-term problems later, studying identical twins in which one twin had been a heavy marijuana user for a year or longer but had stopped at least one month before the study, while the second twin had used marijuana no more than five times ever. Marijuana use had no significant impact on physical or mental health care utilization, health-related quality of life, or current socio-demographic characteristics. Eisen SE et al. Does Marijuana Use Have Residual Adverse Effects on Self-Reported Health Measures, Socio-Demographics or Quality of Life? A Monozygotic Co-Twin Control Study in Men. Addiction. Vol. 97 No. 9. p.1083-1086. Sept.
Marijuana is often called a “gateway drug” by supporters of prohibition, who point to statistical “associations” indicating that persons who use marijuana are more likely to eventually try hard drugs than those who never use marijuana – implying that marijuana use somehow causes hard drug use. But a model developed by RAND Corp. researcher Andrew Morral demonstrates that these associations can be explained “without requiring a gateway effect.” More likely, this federally funded study suggests, some people simply have an underlying propensity to try drugs, and start with what’s most readily available. Morral AR, McCaffrey D and Paddock S. Reassessing the Marijuana Gateway Effect. Addiction. December 2002. p. 1493-1504.
The White House had the National Research Council examine the data being gathered about drug use and the effects of U.S. drug policies. NRC concluded, “the nation possesses little information about the effectiveness of current drug policy, especially of drug law enforcement.” And what data exist show “little apparent relationship between severity of sanctions prescribed for drug use and prevalence or frequency of use.” In other words, there is no proof that prohibition – the cornerstone of U.S. drug policy for a century – reduces drug use. National Research Council. Informing America’s Policy on Illegal Drugs: What We Don’t Know Keeps Hurting Us. National Academy Press, 2001. p. 193.
DOES PROHIBITION CAUSE THE “GATEWAY EFFECT”?): U.S. and Dutch researchers, supported in part by NIDA, compared marijuana users in San Francisco, where non-medical use remains illegal, to Amsterdam, where adults may possess and purchase small amounts of marijuana from regulated businesses. Looking at such parameters as frequency and quantity of use and age at onset of use, they found no differences except one: Lifetime use of hard drugs was significantly lower in Amsterdam, with its “tolerant” marijuana policies. For example, lifetime crack cocaine use was 4.5 times higher in San Francisco than Amsterdam. Reinarman, C, Cohen, PDA, and Kaal, HL. The Limited Relevance of Drug Policy: Cannabis in Amsterdam and San Francisco. American Journal of Public Health. Vol. 94, No. 5. May 2004. p. 836-842.
Federal researchers implanted several types of cancer, including leukemia and lung cancers, in mice, then treated them with cannabinoids (unique, active components found in marijuana). THC and other cannabinoids shrank tumors and increased the mice’s lifespans. Munson, AE et al. Antineoplastic Activity of Cannabinoids. Journal of the National Cancer Institute. Sept. 1975. p. 597-602.
In a 1994 study the government tried to suppress, federal researchers gave mice and rats massive doses of THC, looking for cancers or other signs of toxicity. The rodents given THC lived longer and had fewer cancers, “in a dose-dependent manner” (i.e. the more THC they got, the fewer tumors). NTP Technical Report On The Toxicology And Carcinogenesis Studies Of 1-Trans- Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol, CAS No. 1972-08-3, In F344/N Rats And B6C3F Mice, Gavage Studies. See also, “Medical Marijuana: Unpublished Federal Study Found THC-Treated Rats Lived Longer, Had Less Cancer,” AIDS Treatment News no. 263, Jan. 17, 1997.
Researchers at the Kaiser-Permanente HMO, funded by NIDA, followed 65,000 patients for nearly a decade, comparing cancer rates among non-smokers, tobacco smokers, and marijuana smokers. Tobacco smokers had massively higher rates of lung cancer and other cancers. Marijuana smokers who didn’t also use tobacco had no increase in risk of tobacco-related cancers or of cancer risk overall. In fact their rates of lung and most other cancers were slightly lower than non-smokers, though the difference did not reach statistical significance. Sidney, S. et al. Marijuana Use and Cancer Incidence (California, United States). Cancer Causes and Control. Vol. 8. Sept. 1997, p. 722-728.
Donald Tashkin, a UCLA researcher whose work is funded by NIDA, did a case-control study comparing 1,200 patients with lung, head and neck cancers to a matched group with no cancer. Even the heaviest marijuana smokers had no increased risk of cancer, and had somewhat lower cancer risk than non-smokers (tobacco smokers had a 20-fold increased lung cancer risk). Tashkin D. Marijuana Use and Lung Cancer: Results of a Case-Control Study. American Thoracic Society International Conference. May 23, 2006.
In response to passage of California’s medical marijuana law, the White House had the Institute of Medicine (IOM) review the data on marijuana’s medical benefits and risks. The IOM concluded, “Nausea, appetite loss, pain and anxiety are all afflictions of wasting, and all can be mitigated by marijuana.” While noting potential risks of smoking, the report added, “we acknowledge that there is no clear alternative for people suffering from chronic conditions that might be relieved by smoking marijuana, such as pain or AIDS wasting.” The government’s refusal to acknowledge this finding caused co-author John A. Benson to tell the New York Times that the government “loves to ignore our report … they would rather it never happened.” Joy, JE, Watson, SJ, and Benson, JA. Marijuana and Medicine: Assessing the Science Base. National Academy Press. 1999. p. 159. See also, Harris, G. FDA Dismisses Medical Benefit From Marijuana. New York Times. Apr.

Will you make the leap of faith? Or will you sink, with the ship?

As we draw closer to the inevitable, engineered crash of the United States, and ultimately the world, I begin to wonder – will those who understand reality, actually be able to make the leap of faith?

The Ultra-Rich of the United States have already begun their mass exodus from the United States, fully understanding the situation that is about to present itself. Dr. Rima Laibow, the lady who first introduced the implications, of Codex Alimentarius, to the world at large, took off more than a year ago to begin a new life in South America. What do these people understand, that we do not?

Russian Roulette of the American Public

At this moment, we are involved in a massive game of Russian Roulette. Unfortunately, and unlike traditional Russian Roulette, we have multiple guns, all cocked, locked, and ready to turn our brains to mush.

- 600-1,500 trillion dollar derivatives bubble is waiting at this moment to end life as we know it. Due to the fact that the Derivatives bubble has been artificially manufactured thanks to the repeal of Glass Steagell – we all know that there is no stopping it. It's coming round the tracks, whether we will it, or not.
The growing housing collapse, for those who are unaware, and even prior to the recent mortgage-gate, repossessions were NOT being added to the market. This was because of the sheer magnitude of foreclosures, if they were all added to the market, the abundance of supply would crash the market instantly. So, in the best interest of the market, houses were held off the market to ensure the collapse didn't happen. Eventually, the housing market will collapse entirely.

- Inflation-nation. With quantitative easing, and the FED monetizing the debt, we are left in a situation where inflation is about to begin running rampant. The Derivatives bailouts (housing/banking) crisis of '08, now totals nearly 28 trillion. Bad news for you, is that you're entitled to exactly zero of that 28 trillion, since its entirely for the banks. While they reap the benefits of the cash, you'll be squashed by the inflation it creates. Of course then we have the foreign debt holders (who all refuse to buy our debt now), all holding a trillion each. Since they are unwilling to take a huge hit on their investment, they will wait till the final moment possible, and when one unloads, so will the rest, reigning in the almost instant destruction of the dollar.

- Job market collapse. This has been in the making for many decades, as the banking cartel and globalists have forced us into “globalization” and signed numerous free-trade agreements, but most notably, NAFTA, we have witnessed the destruction of American manufacturing and production. 1.2 billion American cell-phones were produced in the last year, not one was manufactured in the US, what does that tell you? This is by design. This is also why illegal immigrants are allowed to flood across the border, so that they can come and steal your jobs, and accept poor wages.

To illustrate just how 'manufactured' the influx of immigrants is, consider this. Prior to NAFTA, the American government understood that with just a 15% differential in pay rates between Canada and the United States, Canadian manufacturers decided to manufacture goods in the US to save that 15% on wages. Prior to NAFTA, there was a 7 times differential between average American workers, and average American workers, meaning that Americans made seven times more than Mexicans. So they knew full well, that if they opened the flood gates, a vacuum would occur drawing millions of Mexicans across the border to earn higher wages.

By February 2010, it was reported that more than 7.1 million jobs had been lost forever, since 2007. From CNN,

The government's current readings show that 4.8 million jobs were lost in those twelve months [April 2008-April 2009], more than twice the jobs lost during any comparable April-March period going back to 1939, when the numbers first started to be compiled.

Currently, as many as 10 million jobs may have been lost since the “economic downturn” began in 2007. As noted though, not only are there millions fewer jobs, but you're now competing with millions of illegal immigrants, who are willing to work for nothing and not complain. This is Amerika.

- Commercial Real-Estate Collapse. As we continue to shed millions of jobs, we have millions of foreclosures, and millions more relying on food stamps, and welfare. None of these people are supporting the consumerism based economy, and as the strain of this situation continues to pummel the consumerism based economy, we will begin to see an avalanche of commercial real-estate collapses. Once enough steam is gathered, an implosion of the market will soon follow – just like the consumer real-estate market.

- Coming oil inflation. With inflation, as well as real – or implied, scarcity, you had better get used to $150+ barrels of oil, and the resulting $5.00 a gallon fuel. This will bleed the final dollars out of the American public, destroy the transportation sector, and fuel the housing and commercial real-estate collapse. If war with Iran starts, you had better go load up on fuel because you'll likely never find it so cheap again, at least until the war is well and over, but at that point, who knows what will be left of the US.

Fraudulent, monolithic US debt. If you've missed the memo, the current US debt is exponentially larger than it was during the great depression. It cannot, and will not ever be paid off. This will end in the forfeiture of the United States to debt holders. If you “believe” you own your property, you're in for a rude awakening someday soon.

So really, after just scratching the surface, I have identified numerous guns waiting to blow our head into mulch. Derivatives, inflation, housing crash, Job losses, immigration influx, and of course, this is all assuming that World War 3 is not started in Iran, and that the Government doesn't decide to attack its own citizens again, with an event that makes 9/11 look like a warm-up.

The Illusion that makes us stay

What is it about the United States, that makes you want to stay, and live there? Is it the freedom? Can't be, because that's gone. Is it the personal rights? Can't be, because those are gone. Is it the abundant wealth, and well-paying, cushy jobs? Can't be, because those are gone. Is it the culture? Can't be, because culture has been entirely extinguished and replaced with teenie-bopper bullshit like American Idol, and 24 hour garbage reality-entertainment. Is it your pension and retirement? Can't be, because the government invested your entire retirement into toxic derivatives that the banks knew would fail, so they could bankrupt everyone.

If you haven't noticed

The United States that you grew up in, and love, is long gone. Soon enough, it will be so far gone, that you will be unable to recognize it, as it will appear foreign due to the massive changes that have taken place. Absolutely nothing you loved, is left. It's all been systematically destroyed or perverted, so that today, we are left with only ashes and rubble.

The American lifestyle

If you haven't noticed, the “American” life-style is nearly extinct, at least for the common man anyways. Today we have toxic water, toxic food, toxic air, no education system, exponentially expanding police-state, no economic opportunity, garbage health-care, criminal police, fraudulent banking system, the list almost never ends.

On top of all this, we have the locked and loaded guns waiting to drastically, and radically, change, life as we know it, in the United States, at literally any moment. Once those happen, who knows how far down the toilet the United States will go, I cannot speculate, I can only assume, it will be much worse than the shitty state of affairs that it is now.

The leap of faith, that may save your life

When does the time come, that one realizes, that hope is lost, and that the only option is to head for the exits? At what point, during the sinking of the Titanic, did people understand that there was no way to survive on the ship, and instead, went for the life-rafts? Once that realization comes to fruition, is there still time to run for the life rafts?

My point, is that if you wait until the plot accelerates, you may have no choice but to go down with the ship. Now, if you're ready to swim the frigid waters of the North Atlantic, then you may willingly choose to tough it out, and hope that the Titanic returns from the depths, re-emerges on the surface, and you can then continue your fantasy dream life. Unfortunately, the United States you know, is never coming back. Just like the Titanic, once it hits bottom, it's there to stay.

Considering exodus

First, lets identify the two primary driving factors which will dictate your ability to prosper during the times ahead,

1) Self-Sustainability. The more sustainable your life style is, the less dependent you are on others. If you rely on cheap fuel, and a stocked wal-mart shelf, then you are going to be screwed, the time for sugar-coating is over, you're screwed. If you cannot provide your own food, electricity, shelter, and protection. You may as well get down on your knees, and throw your head into the sand, cause you're fucked.

2) Proximity to ignorant, and lack of self-sustainable populations. This is going to be the real wild-card, destructive factor, that people fail to consider. It matters not, if you are 1000% self-dependent, if you're located just down the road from the millions of, unprepared, ignorant, masses. Looting will be common place. So you better have an arsenal if you're planning to tough it out in the burbs, or a city. Society is about to be hit by a freight train, and just because you avoid the smash of the train, does not mean everyone else will. In fact, it's guaranteed that the masses will march triumphantly off the cliff into the collapse. So the closer your proximity is to these masses, the harder life will be for you. Period.

There's nothing left to stay for, as highlighted above. Staying, could result in swimming with the fishys at the bottom of the ocean. So what are the barriers to exodus? First, coming to grips with the fact that nothing is left of the once proud nation, and what is left, will soon be gone, as the engineered destruction of the United States continues at a fevered pace.

One of the most common issues cited for staying, is the fact that money is scarce. This is because we are trained to understand money in terms of the US or Canada, where you cannot go and buy property for very cheap. And the cost of living is large. What most people fail to understand, is that even $500,000 is a massive amount of money pretty much anywhere else on the planet. If you can liquidate for anywhere near $250-$500k+, you could start a new life in a new country, and live like a king.

We all have grown attached to this life we have, but for what? When we really look around and consider our situations, what are we waiting for? Do we enjoy the rat race? Do we enjoy what our nations have become? Do we truly believe, things are going to miraculously get better? I don't think it was curiosity that killed the cat, I think it was merely naivety.

Imagine for a moment, if you and your family members all liquidated, took your few hundred thousand, or perhaps even much more, and moved to another country. You could purchase a chunk of land, and create a sustainable lifestyle, away from that of the toxic American lifestyle.

Could you imagine, not stressing about the rat-race?

Could you imagine, forgetting about the social chaos about to ensue?

Could you imagine, not having to ingest toxic food, and fluoridated, toxic water?

Could you imagine, not having a pile of monthly bills which strip every shred of your income before you can save a dollar?

Could you imagine, not having the Government and banks prying into every single aspect of your life, just waiting for a reason to destroy everything you love, and have worked so hard to attain?

Could you imagine, not living your life based on a clock, and the stress filled life that entails?

Besides, regardless of where you move to, you would still be able to retain all of the creature comforts you enjoy now. Internet and television via satellite, is available anywhere you go. Sure, you will lose the ability to stop off at wal-mart and buy a bunch of Chinese junk, and manufactured horse shit .. err I mean.. food. But, keep in mind, Americans are about to lose that luxury very soon as well, as the credit evaporates and China quits wasting their time shipping containers across an ocean, when their own middle-class is a growing consumer base.

So I ask, will you be able to make the leap of faith? Or will you proudly go down, with the ship?

Americans Buying Guns In Preparation For Civil Unrest

Paul Joseph Watson
Monday, October 18, 2010
Americans are acquiring guns, silver and going on food stamps at record levels in reaction to the crumbling economy, trends indicative of a fearful public who are struggling financially and preparing for potential mass civil unrest in the aftermath of a total economic collapse.
FBI records and Google Trends research shows that firearms purchases are still at record highs, but that ammunition sales have leveled off, suggesting that a flood of first-time gun owners have rushed to protect themselves from the potential of higher crime and even civil unrest in the event of a widespread financial meltdown.
“That tells us that there are more first-time [gun] buyers coming in to buy firearms and that speaks to your worries about security. They buy a few rounds [of ammunition] first time, but they don’t buy more,” ConvergEx Group Chief Market Strategist Nicholas Colas told CNBC.
Interest in silver coins is also surging, with Americans looking for more affordable ways to protect their increasingly devalued dollar savings with many unable to afford soar away gold prices.
“Just two years ago, silver coin sales were on the magnitude of 1 million units a month, now it’s 3 million units a month,” said Colas.
Used car prices have also tailed off, a reflection of shaky confidence in the much heralded “recovery” of the U.S. economy. Meanwhile, Google searches for how to get food stamps have also skyrocketed.

However, the steady increase in gun sales is just as much a reaction to the political climate as it is economic uncertainties.
As we reported back in November 2008 just before Obama took office, the perceived anti-gun agenda of a President backed by a Democrat-controlled House and Senate prompted a record surge in firearms purchases.
With Obama’s White House still full of anti-second amendment figures like Attorney General Eric Holder and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, the American people are loathe to become lackadaisical about their right to keep and bear arms, particularly when active duty combat troops are being brought back from Afghanistan and Iraq to train how to run local city governments and boss communities.
Troops are also being trained to deal with “civil unrest” and “crowd control” in the event of a national emergency.
During the last such national emergency, Hurricane Katrina, gun owners were told that “no one will be able to be armed – we will take all the weapons,” and even residents in high and dry areas had their firearms confiscated by US troops, police and mercenaries.
Given the fact that every forecaster worth his salt is predicting mass civil disobedience in America once austerity measures that are causing riots in Europe fully come into force, including the Obama administration’s move to seize private 401(k) pensions, it’s hardly surprising that Americans continue to stockpile weapons and precious metals in preparation for anarchy, chaos, and potentially martial law.

Ok, a share of hands please. How many of you have ever suckled a baby? Maybe a few of you…? Ok then, how many of you were breastfed?
In a place I call Happy Fantasy Boob Land, I imagine that 100% of you got breast-fed. But, like me, I know for a fact that a lot of you didn’t, and that maybe even some of you haven’t seen a baby breast feeding either. But whatever boob hang-ups we all have, I think we can all agree that breast is best. Years of research and public campaigning have finally shifted the preposterous albeit prosperous medical opinion that we could improve upon nature by synthesizing a substitute. Yes, almost every doctor will tell you that boobs are pretty great. And not only is breast-feeding good for you, it’s a quite a handy thing too. Here we have a whining crying screaming baby going on and On AND ON and all you need to do is stick a boob in it to shut it up. It’s a miracle. You don’t even need to wash the boob before using it. No sterilizing bottles and nipples and discarding plastic bags. It’s the ultimate in convenience, and 100% green. Breast milk is so totally hip.
But what if I told you that breast milk was a health hazard? What if I told you that your baby’s milk needed to be packed into huge vats and blended with other mother’s milk and taken to a factory to be industrially processed? First we’d skim off the fat and then add butter fat back to the milk to achieve the desired percentage of fat (e.g. 1%, 2%, 3% etc). After this we’d pasteurize the whole lot of it, and then run it through a high pressure nozzle upwards of 17,000 kPa in a process called homogenization, changing the physiochemical properties of the milk, turning it into a very different substance. Then we’d pack it up in cardboard boxes lined with polyethylene or high density polyethylene (HDPE) containers, and about a week after it had been expressed, you could finally give it to your baby. Does this make any sense to you?
And yet this is what modern milk has become. The very same substance that comes from a mother’s breast is the same thing that comes from a cow or any other mammal. Sure, the ratio of fats, proteins and sugars are different depending on the animal, but milk is milk, and real milk is always raw. Let’s make no mistake here. Any type of milk that is no longer raw cannot be said to be milk. In fact milk that is no longer raw is usually yogurt, a process that more or less happens on its own. But milk isn’t yogurt. And neither is skim, 2% or homo.
What ‘milk’ has become in modern society is an artifact of milk, a replica of the farm fresh product that the marketing only alludes to. But it’s about as close to real milk as an Egg McMuffin is to a real breakfast. And because it’s not milk, but another product that the body doesn’t recognize as food, it is one of the most allergenic and problematic foods in today’s diet. Not just me but legions of health practitioners including herbalists, naturopaths and medical doctors will all tell you that avoiding milk will improve your health. By avoiding milk health problems seem to resolve out of thin air – chronic mucus and sinus issues, asthma, joint pain, skin rashes and even anxiety and depression – all these and more just seem to get better. It is so common to hear that milk causes health issues that I’ve heard comedians make jokes about it. It’s become a cultural meme, despite all the marketing that “milk does the body good”. It seems that milk is bad for you after all. But let’s be perfectly clear. What we are referring to here isn’t really milk. READ MORE HERE

Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr. 1913 “When the President signs this bill, the invisible government of the monetary power will be legalized….the worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency bill.”

A Bit of History

In August of 1929, the Fed began to tighten the money supply continually by buying more government bonds. At the same time, all the Wall Street giants of the era, including John D. Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan divested from the stockmarket and put all their assets into cash and gold.

Soon thereafter, on October 24, 1929, the large brokerages all simultaneously called in their 24 hour “call-loans.” Brokers and investors were now forced to sell their stocks at any price they could get to cover these loans. The resulting market crash on “Black Thursday” was the beginning of the Great Depression.

Woman Suffering Asthma Attack Denied Inhaler at Pharmacy

some shit to really make my blood boil.

A New Jersey woman suffering an asthma attack was denied an inhaler at a pharmacy because she was $1.99 short, reported.
Katherine O’Connor and her boyfriend were walking home from McDonald’s in Garwood, N.J., Thursday morning when she had the asthma attack, but she did not have her inhaler with her. She went to a nearby CVS, hoping to get a refill on her inhaler prescription.
But, O’Connor was denied the refill because she did not have enough money to pay for the prescription. The medicine cost just over $21, and the couple was short $1.99.
"I had exactly a $20 bill. It came to $21 and change," said O’Connor’s boyfriend, Jack Brown. "I offered him my cell phone, my wallet. I said, ‘I live right around the corner.’ I come in here all the time."
Brown begged the pharmacist to give his girlfriend the inhaler, as she was on the floor wheezing, but the pharmacist would not give in, he said.
Brown called a friend who is a paramedic, who showed up immediately and treated O’Connor.
When questioned about the incident, a store manager had “no comment.”
“The well-being of our customers is our highest priority and we are looking into this matter,” said a statement from CVS corporate offices.

Wait, So The RIAA Is Offended That Google Won't Do Work For Free?

The RIAA and the IFPI have been going on and on for years about just how ridiculous it is for people to suggest music should be "free." They will go on, at great length, to talk up the "value" of music and how it should be paid for. But, apparently, they don't think that applies to anyone else. They're apparently screaming angry at Google because Google (gasp) responded to their request to provide them tools to help them track down unauthorized copies, by quoting their standard prices for how much it costs to use Google's API. So, RIAA, please explain: why is it sacrilege for you to demand people pay up, but it's even worse if Google asks you to pay to use its resources?

21 reasons why the Apocrypha is not inspired:

doing some reading and wondering why they were rejected from offical bible cannon. i sya this does a good job of answering a few questions.

21 reasons why the Apocrypha is not inspired:
  1. The Roman Catholic Church did not officially canonize the Apocrypha until the Council of Trent (1546 AD). This was in part because the Apocrypha contained material which supported certain Catholic doctrines, such as purgatory, praying for the dead, and the treasury of merit.
  2. Not one of them is in the Hebrew language, which was alone used by the inspired historians and poets of the Old Testament.
  3. Not one of the writers lays any claim to inspiration.
  4. These books were never acknowledged as sacred Scriptures by the Jewish Church, and therefore were never sanctioned by our Lord.
  5. They were not allowed a place among the sacred books, during the first four centuries of the Christian Church.
  6. They contain fabulous statements, and statements which contradict not only the canonical Scriptures, but themselves; as when, in the two Books of Maccabees, Antiochus Epiphanes is made to die three different deaths in as many different places.
  7. The Apocrypha inculcates doctrines at variance with the Bible, such as prayers for the dead and sinless perfection.
And the day following Judas came with his company, to take away the bodies of them that were slain, and to bury them with their kinsmen, in the sepulchers of their fathers. And they found under the coats of the slain some of the donaries of the idols of Jamnia, which the law forbiddeth to the Jews: so that all plainly saw, that for this cause they were slain. Then they all blessed the just judgment of the Lord, who had discovered the things that were hidden. And so betaking themselves to prayers, they besought him, that the sin which had been committed might be forgotten. But the most valiant Judas exhorted the people to keep themselves from sin, forasmuch as they saw before their eyes what had happened, because of the sins of those that were slain. And making a gathering, he sent twelve thousand drachmas of silver to Jerusalem for sacrifice to be offered for the sins of the dead, thinking well and religiously concerning the resurrection, (For if he had not hoped that they that were slain should rise again, it would have seemed superfluous and vain to pray for the dead,) And because he considered that they who had fallen asleep with godliness, had great grace laid up for them. It is therefore a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead, that they may be loosed from sins. (2 Maccabees 12:39-46)
  8. The apocrypha contains offensive materials unbecoming of God’s authorship.
Ecclesiasticus 25:19 Any iniquity is insignificant compared to a wife's iniquity.
Ecclesiasticus 25:24 From a woman sin had its beginning. Because of her we all die.
Ecclesiasticus 22:3 It is a disgrace to be the father of an undisciplined, and the birth of a daughter is a loss.
  9. It teaches immoral practices, such as lying, suicide, assassination and magical incantation.
  10. The apocryphal books themselves make reference to what we call the Silent 400 years, where there was no prophets of God to write inspired materials.
And they laid up the stones in the mountain of the temple in a convenient place, till there should come a prophet, and give answer concerning them. (1 Maccabees 4:46)
And there was a great tribulation in Israel, such as was not since the day, that there was no prophet seen in Israel. (1 Maccabees 9:27)
And that the Jews, and their priests, had consented that he should be their prince, and high priest for ever, till there should arise a faithful prophet. (1 Maccabees 14:41)
  11. Josephus rejected the apocryphal books as inspired and this reflected Jewish thought at the time of Jesus
"From Artexerxes to our own time the complete history has been written but has not been deemed worthy of equal credit with the earlier records because of the failure of the exact succession of the prophets." ... "We have not an innumerable multitude of books among us, disagreeing from and contradicting one another, but only twenty-two books, which contain the records of all the past times; which are justly believed to be divine..."(Flavius Josephus, Against Apion 1:8)
  12. The Manual of Discipline in the Dead Sea Scrolls rejected the apocrypha as inspired.
  13. The Council of Jamnia held the same view rejected the apocrypha as inspired.
They debated the canonicity of a few books (e.g., Ecclesiastes), but they changed nothing and never proclaimed themselves to be authoritative determiners of the Old Testament canon. "The books which they decided to acknowledge as canonical were already generally accepted, although questions had been raised about them. Those which they refused to admit had never been included. They did not expel from the canon any book which had previously been admitted. 'The Council of Jamnia was the confirming of public opinion, not the forming of it.'" (F. F. Bruce, The Books and Parchments [Old Tappan, NJ.: Fleming H. Revell, 1963], p. 98])
  14. Although it was occasionally quoted in early church writings, it was nowhere accepted in a canon. Melito (AD 170) and Origen rejected the Apocrypha, (Eccl. Hist. VI. 25, Eusebius) as does the Muratorian Canon.
  15. Jerome vigorously resisted including the Apocrypha in his Latin Vulgate Version (400 AD), but was overruled. As a result, the standard Roman Catholic Bible throughout the medieval period contained it. Thus, it gradually came to be revered by the average clergyman. Still, many medieval Catholic scholars realized that it was not inspired.
  16. The terms "protocanonical" and "deuterocanonical" are used by Catholics to signify respectively those books of Scripture that were received by the entire Church from the beginning as inspired, and those whose inspiration came to be recognized later, after the matter had been disputed by certain Fathers and local churches.
  17. Pope Damasus (366-384) authorized Jerome to translate the Latin Vulgate. The Council of Carthage declared this translation as "the infallible and authentic Bible." Jerome was the first to describe the extra 7 Old Testament books as the "Apocrypha" (doubtful authenticity). Needless to say, Jerome’s Latin Vulgate did not include the Apocrypha.
  18. Cyril (born about A.D. 315) – "Read the divine Scriptures – namely, the 22 books of the Old Testament which the 72 interpreters translated" (the Septuagint)
  19. The apocrypha wasn’t included at first in the Septuagint, but was appended by the Alexandrian Jews, and was not listed in any of the catalogues of the inspired books till the 4th century
  20. Hilary (bishop of Poictiers, 350 A.D.) rejected the apocrypha (Prologue to the Psalms, Sec. 15)
  21. Epiphanius (the great opposer of heresy, 360 A.D.) rejected them all. Referring to Wisdom of Solomon & book of Jesus Sirach, he said "These indeed are useful books & profitable, but they are not placed in the number of the canonical."

so where did lucifer come from?

The word "Lucifer" in Isaiah 14:12 presents a minor problem to mainstream Christianity. It becomes a much larger problem to Bible literalists, and becomes a huge obstacle for the claims of Mormonism. John J. Robinson in A Pilgrim's Path, pp. 47-48 explains:
"Lucifer makes his appearance in the fourteenth chapter of the Old Testament book of Isaiah, at the twelfth verse, and nowhere else: "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!" The first problem is that Lucifer is a Latin name. So how did it find its way into a Hebrew manuscript, written before there was a Roman language? To find the answer, I consulted a scholar at the library of the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. What Hebrew name, I asked, was Satan given in this chapter of Isaiah, which describes the angel who fell to become the ruler of hell?

The answer was a surprise. I had to sit back into a cotton bean bag chair and take a moment before continuing. In the original Hebrew text, the fourteenth chapter of Isaiah is not about a fallen angel, but about a fallen Babylonian king, who during his lifetime had persecuted the children of Israel. It contains no mention of Satan, either by name or reference. The Hebrew scholar could only speculate that some early Christian scribes, writing in the Latin tongue used by the Church, had decided for themselves that they wanted the story to be about a fallen angel, a creature not even mentioned in the original Hebrew text, and to whom they gave the name "Lucifer." Why Lucifer? In Roman astronomy, Lucifer was the name given to the morning star (the star we now know by another Roman name, Venus). The morning star appears in the heavens just before dawn, heralding the rising sun. The name derives from the Latin term lucem ferre, bringer, or bearer, of light." In the Hebrew text the expression used to describe the Babylonian king before his death is Helal, son of Shahar, which can best be translated as "Day star, son of the Dawn." The name evokes the golden glitter of a proud king's dress and court (much as his personal splendor earned for King Louis XIV of France the appellation, "The Sun King").
The scholars authorized by ... King James I to translate the Bible into current English did not use the original Hebrew texts, but used versions translated ... largely by St. Jerome in the fourth century. Jerome had mistranslated the Hebraic metaphor, "Day star, son of the Dawn," as "Lucifer," and over the centuries a metamorphosis took place. Lucifer the morning star became a disobedient angel, cast out of heaven to rule eternally in hell. Theologians, writers, and poets interwove the myth with the doctrine of the Fall, and in Christian tradition Lucifer is now the same as Satan, the Devil, and --- ironically --- the Prince of Darkness.
So "Lucifer" is nothing more than an ancient Latin name for the morning star, the bringer of light. That can be confusing for Christians who identify Christ himself as the morning star, a term used as a central theme in many Christian sermons. Jesus refers to himself as the morning star in Revelation 22:16: "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."
And so there are those who do not read beyond the King James version of the Bible, who say 'Lucifer is Satan: so says the Word of God'...."
Henry Neufeld (a Christian who comments on Biblical sticky issues) went on to say,
"this passage is often related to Satan, and a similar thought is expressed in Luke 10:18 by Jesus, that was not its first meaning. It's primary meaning is given in Isaiah 14:4 which says that when Israel is restored they will "take up this taunt against the king of Babylon . . ." Verse 12 is a part of this taunt song. This passage refers first to the fall of that earthly king... How does the confusion in translating this verse arise? The Hebrew of this passage reads: "heleyl, ben shachar" which can be literally translated "shining one, son of dawn." This phrase means, again literally, the planet Venus when it appears as a morning star. In the Septuagint, a 3rd century BC translation of the Hebrew scriptures into Greek, it is translated as "heosphoros" which also means Venus as a morning star.
How did the translation "lucifer" arise? This word comes from Jerome's Latin Vulgate. Was Jerome in error? Not at all. In Latin at the time, "lucifer" actually meant Venus as a morning star. Isaiah is using this metaphor for a bright light, though not the greatest light to illustrate the apparent power of the Babylonian king which then faded."

Therefore, Lucifer wasn't equated with Satan until after Jerome. Jerome wasn't in error. Later Christians (and Mormons) were in equating "Lucifer" with "Satan".
So why is this a problem to Christians? Christians now generally believe that Satan (or the Devil or Lucifer who they equate with Satan) is a being who has always existed (or who was created at or near the "beginning"). Therefore, they also think that the 'prophets' of the Old Testament believed in this creature. The Isaiah scripture is used as proof (and has been used as such for hundreds of years now). As Elaine Pagels explains though, the concept of Satan has evolved over the years and the early Bible writers didn't believe in or teach such a doctrine.
The irony for those who believe that "Lucifer" refers to Satan is that the same title ('morning star' or 'light-bearer') is used to refer to Jesus, in 2 Peter 1:19, where the Greek text has exactly the same term: 'phos-phoros' 'light-bearer.' This is also the term used for Jesus in Revelation 22:16.
So why is Lucifer a far bigger problem to Mormons? Mormons claim that an ancient record (the Book of Mormon) was written beginning in about 600 BC, and the author in 600 BC supposedly copied Isaiah in Isaiah's original words. When Joseph Smith pretended to translate the supposed 'ancient record', he included the Lucifer verse in the Book of Mormon. Obviously he wasn't copying what Isaiah actually wrote. He was copying the King James Version of the Bible. Another book of LDS scripture, the Doctrine & Covenants, furthers this problem in 76:26 when it affirms the false Christian doctrine that "Lucifer" means Satan. This incorrect doctrine also spread into a third set of Mormon scriptures, the Pearl of Great Price, which describes a war in heaven based, in part, on Joseph Smith's incorrect interpretation of the word "Lucifer" which only appears in Isaiah.

The author of , F.T. DeAngelis, comments on this page as follows The Polytheism Of The Bible And The Mystery Of Lucifer
"It seems minor, but - the actual term used in the Greek Septuagint version of Isaiah 14:12 (given that there is no ONE way of accurately transliterating) is Eo(u)s phoros, morning star/DAWN god of light. Eos or Eous phoros [not Heos (as your website claims) or phos phorus (as a Christian website I visited shows)] - although there is a Greek term and English... phosphoro(u)s. Your [site] is pretty accurate. The actual name, "Lucifer," goes back to the Greeks, before the Romans. Socrates and Plato talk about this "god of light"; surprisingly, not in the context of Eos (god of Dawn), but -- as a morning star -- juxtaposed with the sun (Helios) and Hermes. This information can be found in Plato's Timaeus (38e) and in Edith Hamilton's Mythology."

On a lighter note, Arthur Clarke, in his fictional book 2061 correctly uses the word "Lucifer". He uses it as a name for a new sun in the solar system which is correct since the new sun is a second 'morning star' of 'original' 'light-bearing' substance--not some evil being of religious mythology. David Grinspoon comments on the historical aspects of the word as follows: "The origin of the Judeo-Christian Devil as an angel fallen from heaven into the depths of hell is mirrored in the descent of Venus from shining morning star to the darkness below. This underworld demon, still feared today by people in many parts of the world, is also called Lucifer, which was originally a Latin name for Venus as a morning star." (Venus Revealed p. 17) Actually, Grinspoon should just refer to the "Christian Devil" since the Jews never believed in such a creature and still don't to this day.
